Tell me about Igneous rocks. Where do they come from, what does igneous mean, what types are there, what are some examples and where do we find them?
Igneous rocks comes from hot fluid material. It is Latin for fire. An example of igneous is extrusive another type of rock is intrusive. We find them where lithospheric plates pull apart at mid ocean ridges.
Igneous rocks form in three places where lithospheric plates pull apart at ocean ridges. Where plates come together at subduction places and where continental crust are pushed together.
Igneous rocks come from the latin word "fire". Igneous rocks are formed when lave cools either on the surface (extrusive) or in pockets of magma inside the earth (intrusive). Some examples are feldspar, quartz, amphiboles and pyroxenes
"igneous" comes from the Latin for fire. This material may have been lava erupted at the Earth's surface, or magma. An example of igneouse is exstrusive and intrusive. We see these examples when lithospheric plates pull apart at a mid ocean ridges.

Igneous rocks come from hot, fluid material. The different types include extrusive, intrusive, and plutonic. Some examples are obsidian, granite and quartz. We find igneous rocks on the deep sea floor, volcanic arcs, and the edges of continents.
@ abby remdold I agree with you hannah its weird hom plate tectonics can involve with rocks and minerals.Also how ignoues rocks form from mid ocena ridges.
Igneuos rocks can also form in deep pockets of magma like said on one of our science papers. Also to inform you where contiental plates are pushed together create volcanpes so magma flows out, melts and creates igneous rocks.
Igneous rocks begins from as hot, fluid material. And igneous comes from the latin word for fire. Types: basalt, granite, granitoid Ex: extrusive and intrusive You can find them at in the deep sea floor the oceanic crust.

At the most general level, rocks fall into three great categories, and they're pretty simple to tell apart. You won't even need a rock hammer or hand lens, though those are fun to have. Igneous rocks are the first great class. Igneous rocks begin as hot, fluid material, and the word "igneous" comes from the Latin for fire
igneous rocks come from hot fluid materials. examples of igneous are intrusive and extrusive. you can find them where the lithosphere paltes pull apart at the mid ocean ridgess.
@Natalie It is two different things, but I think what it means is that it could be extrusive or intrustive. And that's funny because I always thought granite came a cold place too. It just seems like that.
@moerhing i think its weird how igneous is italian because it sounds like an american word. and if it does mean fire why dont we just call them fire rocks in america
Igneous comes from a hot fluid material when it cools up (magma). igneous comes from the latin word "fire". Types are feldspar, quartz, amphiboles and pyroxenes. We find them on the deep sea floor (the oceanic crust).
Igneous rocks comes from hot fluid material.It means fire in latin. An example of igneous rock is intrusive rock. You can find it where lithospheric plates pull apart at the mid ocean ridges.
IGNEOUS ROCKS!! These are the total opisite of sedimentary rocks because igneous rocks are born from hot material. as in are notes igneous is the lastin word for fire... one example is extrusive rock. which is found in the lithosphere plates. --SYdney POlking--
@ anna ' i also wonder what color the matiral is maybe blackish redsih grayish i dont no maybe we will find out later in this unit.. --SYdney POlking--
@monni szary extrusive and intrusive are not examples of igneous rocks they are types of igneous rocks. Basalt, and Granite are some examples of igneous rocks.
josh parsons- These rocks come from the ocean floor. The word igneous means fire. The types are basalt,granite and gabbro and ryolite. And if you dig throught the continents you will find igneous rocks.
Igneous rocks start from hot, fluid material. The word igneous comes from the latin word "fire". some types of igneous rocks are extructive and intrustive. Deep magma is also plutonic. Some examples of igneous rocks are quarts, feldspar and amphboles. When can find igneous rocks where lithosphere plates pull apart at mid-ocean ridge.
@Abby Rembold I do agree with the comments and there are other ways we can find some igneous rocks such as were plates come together subduction zones. Also were continental zones are pushed together.
"igneous" comes from the Latin for fire. This material may have been lava erupted at the Earth's surface, or magma (unerupted lava) at shallow depths, or magma in deep bodies (plutons). Rock formed of lava is called extrusive, rock from shallow magma is called intrusive and rock from deep magma is called plutonic.
Igneous rocks come from cooled molten rock, which makes since because igneous means 'fire'. You might find some rocks at the bottom of a volcano. some examples are: extrusive & intrusive.
igneous is latin for fire. igneous rocks are made from cooled hardened magma. there are intrusive igneous rocks and extrusive igneous rocks. you can find them at mid ocean ridges.
Igneous rocks begin as hot, and fluid material. Rocks are from shallow magma is called Intrusive and rocks are also from deep magma. Igneous means latin of fire. Some examples are lithospheric plates pull apart at mid ocean ridges.

Igeous rocks come from a hot fluid material.The word igneous comes from the Latin word meaning "Fire".There are 2 trypes of igeous rocks and they are Intrusive and Extrusive.Some examples are Gabrro,Pumice,etc.You can find them Where lithosheric parts are pulling away from each other.
Igneous rocks come from hot fluid material. Igneous is latin for fire. The types of igneous rocks are :
*Extructive.
*Intrucive.
*Plutonic.
You can find the in where the lithospheric plates pull apart at mid-ocean ridges. You can find it where plates come together at subduction zones. You can also find it where continental crust is pushed together.
igneous rock comes from hot fluid material. Ignaeous means in latin fire. we find them where lithospheric plates pull apart at mid ocean ridges. a example of igneous is intrusive and extrusive.
@Abbey Rembold
I think is weird how the forms at mid ocean ridges!
igneous rocks come from hot fluid material anoter type of rock is intrustive lithospherick plates pull apart mid ocean
Igneous rocks come from hot fluid material which might have been lava. Igneous comes from the latin word "fire". The types of Igneous rocks are intrusive and extrusive. An example of Igneous rocks are basalt and rhyolite.
Igneous rocks begin as hot, fluid material, and the word "igneous" comes from the Latin for fire.A type of ingneous rockis exstusive and intrusive. we fing these where lithospheres plates pull apart at mid ocean ridges.
Igneous rocks come from hot, fluid material.
The different types include extrusive, intrusive, and plutonic.
Some examples are obsidian, granite and quartz.
We find igneous rocks on the deep sea floor, volcanic arcs, and the edges of continents.
@ megan thats cool that igneous rocks are madeout of hot lava material
@ abby remdold
I agree with you hannah its weird hom plate tectonics can involve with rocks and minerals.Also how ignoues rocks form from mid ocena ridges.
@andrew
Igneuos rocks can also form in deep pockets of magma like said on one of our science papers. Also to inform you where contiental plates are pushed together create volcanpes so magma flows out, melts and creates igneous rocks.
@bonni
i think its col basalt can be extrusive or intrusive
@bonni
i think its col basalt can be extrusive or intrusive
Igneous rocks begins from as hot, fluid material.
And igneous comes from the latin word for fire.
Types: basalt, granite, granitoid
Ex: extrusive and intrusive
You can find them at in the deep sea floor the oceanic crust.
igneous rocks comes from hot fluid. an example is extrusive another is intrusive.
@ monica
i also think that the basalt is cool how if can be extrusive and intrusive
Igneous comes from the latin word for fire.Igenous rocks form where lithospheric plates pull apart at mid-ocean ridges, where they come together at subduction zones, and when they push together at continental plates. Three types of igneous rocks are intrusive rocks, extrusive rocks,and plutonic rocks. Intrusive rocks are rocks formed in shallow magma. An example of intrusive rock could be Basalt but Basalt could also be extrusive. Extrusive are formed of lava. Examples of extrusive rocks are obsidian and pumice. Plutonic rocks are formed in deep magma.
Anthony,Erb
At the most general level, rocks fall into three great categories, and they're pretty simple to tell apart. You won't even need a rock hammer or hand lens, though those are fun to have.
Igneous rocks are the first great class.
Igneous rocks begin as hot, fluid material, and the word "igneous" comes from the Latin for fire
igneous rocks come from hot fluid materials. examples of igneous are intrusive and extrusive. you can find them where the lithosphere paltes pull apart at the mid ocean ridgess.
@abby thats cool you got some xstuff that i didnt nice job
@Natalie
It is two different things, but I think what it means is that it could be extrusive or intrustive.
And that's funny because I always thought granite came a cold place too. It just seems like that.
@moerhing
i think its weird how igneous is italian because it sounds like an american word. and if it does mean fire why dont we just call them fire rocks in america
Igneous comes from a hot fluid material when it cools up (magma). igneous comes from the latin word "fire". Types are feldspar, quartz, amphiboles and pyroxenes. We find them on the deep sea floor (the oceanic crust).
Ignous rock comes from hot fluid material. it is the latin word for fire. An example is moten lava rock.we find them when plates are pulled apart.
@Abby Rembold
I found that there deep sea not mid sea? Where did you see that?
Igneous rocks comes from hot fluid material.It means fire in latin. An example of igneous rock is intrusive rock. You can find it where lithospheric plates pull apart at the mid ocean ridges.
IGNEOUS ROCKS!!
These are the total opisite of sedimentary rocks because igneous rocks are born from hot material. as in are notes igneous is the lastin word for fire... one example is extrusive rock. which is found in the lithosphere plates.
--SYdney POlking--
@ anna '
i also wonder what color the matiral is maybe blackish redsih grayish i dont no maybe we will find out later in this unit..
--SYdney POlking--
they come from volcaneo.you can find them by the volcaneo.
@anna
nice comment really.what did you think about it.
@monni szary
extrusive and intrusive are not examples of igneous rocks they are types of igneous rocks.
@Abby Rembold
I do agree with the comments and there are other ways we can find some igneous rocks such as were plates come together subduction zones.
Igneous rocks begin as hot, fluid material
I wonder why they choose to name the Igneous rock from Fire?
@ Abby and Anna
Yeah, I would like to see what color its from too!
the name igneous comes from the lati word fire. it comes from lava or magma. the types of igneous rocks are basalt and granite.
igneous rock come from lava after it cools down. rocks that are formed here are rocks like obsidian. obsidian was used to hunt and to preform surgery.
Michael Twilling
Igneous means fire. it forms from magma or lava
Michael Twilling
@Luke Namie for some reason i can't remember what quartz are
igneous rocks come from the latin word "fire", also came from where the lithospheric plates pull apart at ocean ridges. the types are intrusive, and etrusive. one exsample is magma
@jenn
isnt granit intrusive???????????
they come from hot fluid.Which is also latin for fire.Examples are extrustive and intrustive .They are found in mide ocean ridges.lyndsey roberto

Igneous Rock comes from the Latin for fire. Igneous Rock is lava erupted on the Earths surface. There are three types of Igneous Rock:Extrusive,Intrusive,Plutonic. Igneous rocks form in three main places: at mid-ocean ridges, at subduction zones and where continental crust is pushed together
