What are clouds and how do they form? What are the names of clouds and what do they mean. How does lightning form? How many amperes are in a return stroke of lightning? Read this short article and watch the video and answer the above questions.
How do clouds work?

They are formed from tumbling masses that roll and form into a cloud. The names of the clouds are,
Cumulus (meaning "heap" or "pile"): flat on the bottom with big billowy tops
Stratus (meaning "layer"): short and spread across great distances
Cirrus (meaning "curl of hair"): wispy and thin
Nimbus (meaning "rain" or "rainy cloud"): likely to bring precipitation.
Lightning is basically just the result of static electricity.
Cloud formation happens easily when water vapor has something to cling to, allowing the water vapor to change into its liquid or solid phases.

The most common names of the clouds are cumulus, nimbus, stratus, and cirrus. There are 10,000 amperes in a return stroke of lightning. Cumulus means-a type of cloud that is flat on the bottom and billowy on the top
nimbus means-a type of cloud that is likely to bring precipitation
stratus means-a type of cloud that is short and spreads across great distances
cirrus means- a type of cloud that is wispy and thin
Clouds are made up of evaporated water. It rises and goes into condensation-it turns backn into regular water in its liquid form and it forms a cloud. When it gets too heavy it rains, if the weather is too cold it will become snow, sleet, or hail.
@Anna
Yes, I did hear that ha. I couldn't remember what they said so I put that they are made up of rain. They are made up of water right? Or at least a little bit? I think.
Cumulus flat on the bottom with big billowy tops which means heap or pile.
Stratus short and spread across great distances which means layer
Cirrus wispy and thin meaning curl of hair
Nimbus likely to bring precipitation meaning rain or rainy cloud
Lightning happens from static electricity
@jen! Ya! There are made of rain and I think some masses! I read it off the artical, but i am pretty sure that some clouds are made of rain and some big masses..
Stratus; short and spread across great distances which means layer
Nimbus; likely to bring precipitation meaning rain or rainy cloud
Lightning happens from static electricity
Cumulus; flat on the bottom with big billowy tops which means heap or pile.
Cirrus ; Meaning "curl of hair" they are wispy and thin.
There are 4 types of clouds which are:
Cumulus
Stratus
Cirrus
Nimbus
They are formed when water evaporate into the air and then condensates back into a cloud.
There are 10000 amperes in a return stroke of lightning. Lightning forms from static.
@ Jen Peters
do you remember in like 2nd or 3rd grade we learned all about all of the clouds.
@Anna
Yeah, that's what I thought. All I knew was that they are made of water, but I also read that they had masses! :)
Lightning forms by a spark. Then a negative charge come from a cloud connects with a conductor on the ground and then makes the visible lightning bolt.
@DeeAnna
Yes I do, we learned about ALL the different types of clouds, but I ever seem to remember the other ones. I only remember the four common ones which are the ones I posted.
Clouds are water on top of dust it is formed when is tumbles and the names of them are:
Cumulus, Cirrus, Stratus, and Nimbus, and there is also the cumulo-nimbus i think...CONTINUE LATER
cumulus-flat on the botttom with big billowy tops
cirrus-thin
stratus-sort and stay in the sky for long time and go far
nimbus-might have precipitation with it
Lightning is static electritiy.

Cumulus means "heap" or "pile". Flat on the bottom.
Status means "layer". Short and spread acros great distances.
Cirrus means "curl of hair" . Wispy and thin
Nimbus means "rain" and "rain cloud". Most likely to bring precipitaion. lighting is (mostly) just the result of static electrictity.
yes jen. your right :)they are made of rain.
Clouds are condensed precipitation that forms into a mass.
The different types of clouds are
Cumulonimbus- wich are large and dark and mean thunderstorms.
Cirrus- light and wispy clouds.
Cumulus- flat on the bottom with big tops.
Stratus- short and spread apart.
Lighting is the result of static electricity.

Clouds are formed from tumbling masses roll into a shape and form a cloud.
The names of the clouds are:
Cumulus (meaning "heap" or "pile"): flat on the bottom with big billowy tops
Stratus (meaning "layer"): short and spread across great distances
Cirrus (meaning "curl of hair"): wispy and thin
Nimbus (meaning "rain" or "rainy cloud"): likely to bring precipitation.
Lighting is just mainly the static electricty
@ emily
ha yeahh your right emily (:
But,, what if we were clouds that would be coool........
I wish i was a cloud because then we could form storms and just float into the air.

Some clouds causes tornadoes, lighting, hurricanes, thunder.
Clouds are formed from tumbling masses that over time eventually form into a big bubble called a cloud.
Cirrus is one type and it means curl of hair.
Cumulus is another type and it means to heap or pile flat on the bottom without any tops
The next type is Stratus which means to layer and also spread across almost any distance.
Clouds are water vapor. When water vapor condenses it forms a cloud.
Names of clouds:
Cumulus (meaning "heap"): flat on the bottom with big billowy tops
Stratus (meaning "layer"): short and spread
Cirrus (meaning "curl of hair"): wispy and thin
Nimbus (meaning "rain"): might bring precipitation
Lighting forms by static electricty when the clouds rub against each other.
Clouds are big masses of water that has formed into a gas. The types of clouds are...
Cumulus:Flat on bottom and pretty much fluffy on top.
Stratus:Short and spread across big distances, like a blanket :P
Cirrus:Wispy and thin (Looks smokey, but isn't smoke)
Nimbus:Likely to bring precipitation.
