Erosion & Deposition

When you hear the word erosion, what do you think?  What about deposition, what does that word mean to you?  Do you know anything that either of these two processes create?  Is there anything you would like to do in class when learning about erosion and deposition?

i cant remember if i learned it.
the only thing i know is that erosion creates holes in seashells.

When I hear the word Erosion I think of rocks and minerals and when I hear the word Deposition I think of how deep something is. I'm not sure what they create in these processes. I would like to do alot of activities bescause i am really bad at erosion.

Sturwold, Kaylee said...

@jill I didnt know they created holes in seashells?

When I hear the word erosion I think of things breaking down and transforming.
When I hear deposition I think of the work down by erosions being deposited by deposition. Deposition basicaly moves the remains of the erosion to another spot to help build it into different things.

When I think of Erosion I think of thing wearing away. When I think of deposition, I think of things getting smaller... I don't know why.

Anonymous said...

When I hear th word erosion i really don't think of anything. The word depositon means to me is the way the rocks and soil move. No i do not know anything that either of these two processes create. No, I don't have any ideas on what to learn in class.

Rembold,Abby said...

when i hear the word erosion i think of when rocks are eroding into smaller rocks. i have no idea what deposition means. if there was anything we do in class to learn about erosion and deposition it would probaly be to have labs about it.

Lamping Ally said...

Erosion is the process of rocks and minerals composing into the ground. I do not know anything about deposition. I would like to watch lots of movie since you cant really do labs with erosion.

Moehring,DeeAnna said...

When i hear erostion i think of the movment of solid things over time.

When i hear depositon i think of the left over erosion deposited into the earth. i think deposition moves the left over erosion?

Anonymous said...

@Sturwold,Kaylee
I think that is a really good idea for the word deposition... it makes sense.

Tyler said...

erosion is when wind and water break down rock and deposition i dont know what it means

LaGrangeBonnie said...

When I hear the word erosion i think of the movement of solid items over a period of time. WHen I hear the word deposition I think of the depositing of solids like dirt. I believe the two processes create soil. I'm not sure what I would like to do in class during this unit. I know we did a brief unit on erosion and deposition in third or fourth grade, but I don't remember what activities we did or didn't do!

I know erosion is the waring away of an object. (soil, land, rocks, boulders etc) These objects are eroded by wind, water and other natural happenings. I beleive deposition is the moving of land(soil, and rocks) by natural causes such as flood, landslides, high winds and etc.

Andrew Gibbous McCarthy said...

Erosion is when a rock gets worn away by weather or when water wears away at a material making it smooth. And i want to learn more about deposition becaus i cant explain it

Anonymous said...

@Lamping,Ally
I don't think we could either... it would be kinda hard, but movies are always a good idea! :)

Savard, Samantha said...

When I hear the word erosion I think of rocks breaking down mostly mountains.
When I hear the word deposition I cant really think of anything because i have no idea what that is but I hope to learn more about it throughout this unit

kallmeyer, bridget said...

When I hear the word erosion I think of some thing getting worn away by wind or water.
When I hear the word deposition I think of some thing dead turning into soil.
Erosion usaly cerates sand and deposition usaly creates soil.
I dont know what I want to do in class to learn about them.

Henson,Megan said...

When I think of the word erosion, I think of rocks because erosion is the withering away of objects. When I think of the word deposition, I think of soil because I think it is the despositing of things. I dont know what they both create. I know that we did something like this in third grade but I forget what we did.

schatzman.arin said...

I think erosion is when a rock is being worn away by an outside force.I think deposition is when bits of rock or whatever are being deposited somewhere else.I don't know I'd like to learn about these.

Savard, Samantha said...

@Jill
How does erosion make holes in seashells is that the only thing it can do

Anonymous said...

@Jill Stange
How does it make holes in sea shells?

@ ally lamping you can actually do some labs with erosion like we could take a peice of something big and put it on the ground and watch it everyday or something like that(:

erosion: the wearing away of rocks and land to form hills.

deposition: the depept of the eroded rock or cliff

erosion i think is like when a rock gets broken down little bit by i think water or something i reall6 dont no what deposition is but if i had to guess i would provley say that it is a natural process that lies down a deposite of something???

Erosion: is the weathering of anny solid material bye water wind or anny physicol damige.
Deposition: i dont have the slightest clue but hopefully i wll find out soon.

hutson,cody said...

the only thing that I can think of is erosion is wearing away rocks and deposition has something to do with rotting objects and animals that eat these rotting objects.

Henry Minning said...

I think an erosion is when a rock crumbles or breaks apart because of another force. For example, when a river slams into a rocky canyon wall, the rock erodes and breaks down.

Smith,Courtney said...

when i here the woord erosion i think of weathering down or breaking down rocks and minerals. the word deposition means to me is.. well i think how the rocks and soils are moving
i can do anything thatyou have planed for this section

when i hear about deposition i hear "the depositing of rocks" or something like that. our 5th grade teacher taught us about it but i dont remember that much.

I know erosion creates caves, rivers and canyons.i have no idea what deposition causes.

i would like to see quick demon strations of these processes.

When you hear the word erosion, what do you think?I know the word erode means to whether down or break down so thats what comes to mind

What about deposition, what does that word mean to you?Deposition has the word deposit in it so i think it means to deposit a substance.

Do you know anything that either of these two processes create? No not really

Is there anything you would like to do in class when learning about erosion and deposition?Yes i would like to do live examples

Erosion: The process of wearing something down by anouther interfearing force (Water, Wind etc.)
Deposition: When rivers deposite sediment, its transporting it to a new area that grudually builds to a land form...I think...
In class I think it would be cool to do hands-on kinds of things instead of just reading out of the book.

What erosion means to me is falling rocks flying down a hill. I really do not know what deposition means but I know I will know soon. All I know is that erosion causes a lot of rock and dust. I think it wood be cool if we could make a slanted object and send lots of rocks.

I think of pebbles falling off the side of some sort of cliff or something. Also the Grand Canyon. Deposition I think about, well I really have no idea what to think about with that word, because I have no idea what it means. Erosion makes rivers and canyons. Depostion again i have no idea. I would like to do some sort of cool lab with erosion and also I would like to learn what deposition means.

Erosion I know means the wearing down of rocks by wind and water. IM not sure about depostion but isn't it when like soil deposits at the mouth of a river. I know erosion creates mountains and how large or small rocks are and how rivers are made. Erosion created the grand canyon. In class I would like to know the true meaning of depostion.

whent i think of deposition i think of deposit... depostit meaning to put in... or put somewhere.

i know that erosion takes a long time to happen.

i also know deposition is slit/rocks/pebbles from a moving river.

i think it would be cool dto put sand and rocks in a a bunck of water then drain the water... thats deposition...

erosion is that they are small rocks with dirt init that comes from a mountain
deposition is that gas can be transformed into other gases.
