What causes tornadoes to form?

What are the ingredients for the perfect tornado?  Why is May the key month?  What is the difference between a super cell, a tornado and a wind shear?

The ingrediants for aq perfect tornadoe is that it is hotter and more humid in the South as the sun becomes higher in the sky, but the warmth and humidity spreads north more often into the Plains and Midwest. It is this air mass near the surface, so called "maritime tropical" air, that sets the foundation for severe t-storms.
May is the key month because the jet stream is still energentic.

A perfect Tornado

Hot and humid (hotter and more humid in the South) and May is a great time for tornadoes because the jet stream is like still enrgetic, I think you also need thunderstorm weather

this is probably going to sound a lot like sams, so i'll try to switchh it up. Warm, humid air from the south is pushed up to the plains, where the jetstream will meat it like chips on dip. The jetstream is still "energetic" and will create t-storms once it hits mT.

Luke said...

@ mauricio, courtney,
well, what we're talking about is t-storms. This mT and jetstream create the storms. superCells are just an additional hazard.

The ingredients for a perfect tornado are that it is hotter in the South and the sun is higher in the sky. wHIle this is occuring both the humidity and warmth need to spread across to the North.
May is the key month because humidity and warmth (including moisture) are in the air. Also the jetstreams arestill active and energetic.
The difference between a tornado, supercell and wind shear is a tornado is the outcome, the supercell is an ingredient needed and a wind shear is the enhanced difference in both wind speed and direction with height which leads to supercells.

I think that I forgot to put tthe jet stream part with why may is a key month. or i am just wrong.

The ingrediants for a perfect tornadoe is that the hotter and more humid it is in the south, the sun then needs to become higer in the sky. But the warm air usually spreads north more often into the plains and the midwest. The air mass near a surface called "Maritime tropical" air, that starts or sets a foundation for severe t-storms. May is the key month because the jet stream is still energentic.

I can't believe that those are the ingredinents for a perfect tornado. I hope that we never experinence one! I will never be the same after on happens.

i agree, i think we need thunderstorm weather too.

Julia Greve said...

the jet stream must be energetic. providing cold, dry air. the jet stream sometimes causes speed and direction changed in the wind. near surface boundaries must also be present to create a tornado.

Maritime tropical is the ingerdeents for a tornado. The jet stream is still entergetic. A wind sheer is the change in wind speed and height. These help sustain supercells

Although not very common, they produce a relatively large amount of severe weather, in particular, extremely large hail, damaging straight-line winds, and practically all violent tornadoes.a wind shear is The rate of wind speed or direction change with distance. Super Cell- A type of thunderstorm.

The ingerdients for a perfect tornado are heat and humidity(Though not TOO too hot) Also jet streams help.
May is the key month because of it's increasing heat and humidity and that jet streams are still energetic. The difference between a super cell, a tornado, and a wind shear is that well it's kind of hard to compare those, but hey Ill try, the super cell causes the tornado, a very severe tornado, and the windshear helps with the difference and stuff. It's kind of confusing to me. :l

The ingredients for a tornado are...
1. It is getting warmer and more humid, but Jet Streams are still energetic.
2. The atmosphere is unstable,so the cold air pushes over the warm air.
3. Near-surface boundaries( warm fronts, cold fronts, etc.) Cause for thunderstorms to develop by converging winds and warm air to rise.

The difference between a supercell tornado and a regular tornado is they are larger and different wind speeds caused by Jet Streams

LaGrangeBonnie said...

@ Luke
Supercells are larger, faster, more dangerous tornados, right? Just making sure. I wonder what one looks like from the inside like the people on the storm chasers video.

ReddingtonDavid said...

@ Courtney

you also need atmospheric instability

Weisker,Kyle said...

The ingrediants are cold fronts, wormfronts and windsheres. May is the key month because a lot of thunder storms and rain happen. Windsheres are strong winds butt not as atrong as a tornado. Super cells are strong winds that could triger tornados. Tornadoes are the most.
