A bit about our night sky, here is some interestiing information about Venus.

Venus
How many of you have tried to fin different things within the night sky, whether it be constellations or planets? Have you ever used a telescope? What have you seen?

My dad always checks out the NASA website, so we always find out about whats going to be in the sky and when. I have a telescope at home, and we look at the moon. In February you could see Mars and the at its largest in 10 years!
When i was little me and my dad used to go outside and look at the stars and "camp outside." A constelltion that i have seen many times is the big dipper. I dont have a telescope but i think it would be cool to have one though(:
I like to look at the sky and find the constellations like the Big Dipper. I have never used a telescope becaus eI don't have one. I have seen the Big Dipper though and my Grandma showed me where to look for a planet.
me and my cousins sometimes use his telescope to see wats in the sky when i look i always see so many stars and planets its so cool, but no i dont have a telescope but i wish i do! -taylor humphries
when i was about 6 or 7 me and my brothers and sisters would go outside on our trampoline and watch the stars, and i think ive seen the big dipper before but i have not seen any of the planets before:)
@ally i also think having a telescope would be cool because it gives you a closer vision of the sky:)

my dad and I like looking for Orions Belt and Squirpia. My telescope is really weird, its picture is upside down and backwards:0
@Luke Your so lucky I want a telescope, I think it would be cool to go outside and see the stars, planets and constellations up close. My Grandma is the one that talks to me about the world and space.
Me and my friend always go outside when it is a cool, clear night. I love camping with my family too. Its neat to find big constellations and i am always ready to go outside on a clear cool night to find new things.

My family owns a campground, so during the summer when we go down there my cousins and I go into this big patch of grass, or down to the "beach" and look at the stars when we have a clear night.(:
@luke I always wanted a telescope and go outside with my dad and look at the stars. i hope sometime i can go get a telescope and look at the stars with my dad.

I think it would be really cool to have a telescope too, I have never looked through one before, and I really want too.
i havent seen much because i dont have a telescope but a couple weeks ago in august i saw the meteor shower it was so cool i only saw a couple tho because they went so fast across the sky my grandma saw like 8 it was so interesting i jumped on my trampoline when it happened and one went right above our heads i wish i could see a planet tho it would be so cool
I have tried to find constellations in the sky. I have seen basic constellations like the big and little dipper. I used to have a telescope, but I was a lot younger and I don't think we really looked for anything we just like looked at the stars, but either its stored somewhere or we broke it. Once at enrichment day Mr.Stoddard brought in this blow-up planetarium and we went in and he pointed out constellations and how the stars looked in all the seasons it was so cool. My mom was there to help and she and I still rememeber it. I've also been to a planetarium with school(I think!) and my brother's boy scout den when he was a boy scout!

i think its cool you and your family have a campground i would love to watch the stars there:)!
my family and i also used to have a campground and we would watch the stars and ride jet skis all night on the lake! it was so much fun:)

@bonnie i called your house since you live right up the street from me and you said that you were watching it? it would be cool to watch the space station go by ha every time i see a jet plane going up i always ask "IS THAT A SPACE SHIP" but it never is :)

@Kaylee Nice but it wasn't a space ship it was like this space station thing that I guess astronauts or something go to, it wasn't anything spectacular it was just like a white lite moving throught the sky kind of slowly it sort of looked like a star!
@Jenn Since your grandma showed you where to look did you end up seeing the planet, which planet was it? I have always wanted to see a planet, maybe I will look for Venus tonight!
How could anybdy on earth mistake a planet for ufo ,I mean if aliens could even have a flying saucer you think thier technology would be so primitive that you could see thier ships

I used to do the same thing when I was little. I would go outside and just look at stars.
@bonnie I saw the space station go by too. I t was amazing to see i hope to see it again.
@Megan yeah I still do it sometimes because my dads out there everynight. He just sits out there with his I-pod and like this fountain candle thing and watches the stars. Sometimes I go out there with him. We watched the Lunar Eclipse ( I think thats the right name) together!
i thaught that the story about venuse was intresting to learn about because i dont now that much about venuse and other planets and i would like to learn more

I SAW THE SPACE SHUTTLE LAST YEAR AT NIGHT TIME.IF ITSDARK WHEN I GET HOME I CAN SEE THE DIPPERS AND RYANS BELT.
I do try to find things within the night sky i mostly try to find planets or the big Dipper. I do not have a telescope so I would not know what it is like to see things up close but i have always wanted to look up in a telescope i think it would be really close
@bonnie ya but its the fact that you got to see one but i get what your sayin i think it would be cool that it looked sorta looked like a star was it cool or was it more like a little white lite moving?

i havent really looked for constelltions besides the big dipper. my dad has a telascope so we use it sumetimes its hard to look at the moon because you have to get it just right

Moon, Yeahh, we always debate if it is a half or a cresent. I love seeing a full moon,

I remember My aunt told me Jupiter was outside..Well It was actually Venus.So me and my mom went outside at night last month and saw it set low behind some tree's it was hard to see but i saw it becuase it was so bright!!I thought it was so pretty. I had never seen Venus like that before .
Another time is when i saw a eclipse. It was like The moon and sun morphed together it was so cool!
I cant wait until to night so i can see venus.I love to learn about space its like a big black mystery you never know whats out there.It will be cool to see venus in the night sky...cant wait
My dad has been looking at the NASA website ever since we saw the space ship take off in florida and he always tells us when a planet is really close.
i also would look at the stars sometimes with my dad on my trampoline on weekends only really but i could only find the little dipper not the big one at least i think

i have only been onn the nasa website once and that was with my friend!i am sorry mrs.hoffman but i dont think learning about space is thar much fun! but my grandma once gave me a bag of space ice cream it looks gross because it is all dry but it really good it is all dry! lyndz roberto try it if you get a chance!

i have to admit that the stars are a beautiful but i have always wondered that if we call them stars, if there are other people out there, do they call our sun a star?
i mean why dont we call our sun a star? it is the same as almost all the burning balls or gas in our solar system :)
on my farm in indiana i really never notice the stars in the sky and if i do there is like two or three when i wAKE UP AROUND 7 i can still seee the moon lyndz roberto
ALLISON JOHNSON- I do use the telescope sometimes. I see the moon and some stars.I never saw mars or any other planets.
that would be so cool to have a telescope! I dont have one, but ive tried to make out things with the stars, unsecsucesfully.

sometimes when i am outside in my pool i look up at the sky and see the many stars and pick out the constellations. i do not own a telescope but i notice constellations in the night sky.
@I have never used a telescope because I can't see! I have never tried to find thing in the night sky because I can't see! I have seen nothing in the night sky because I cannot see!

I remeber I went on this one vacation to Beaver Island, Michigan and it was really cool because when we went my dad brought a telescope so every night we got to look in the stary night finding different stars.

What does the big dipper look like? Could you describe it to me since I can't see?
My dad has a telescope but we don't use it very often because it's stored away somewhere, although everyonce in awhile he will get it out and look at the stars. Also, when I went to the beach this summer my uncle, my cousins and I went out on the beach at night and looked at the stars and constellations. We saw the basic constellations like the big and little dipper but we also saw other constellations like virgo.

i have never used a teloscope either.the stars are beautiful.there is lots in the sky. i truly hope one day you can experience it
i have never looked through a telescope into the sky, but what i see without a telescope looks very interesting, i like to look at the night sky especially bacause of the stars

the big dipper is stars in the sky formed together to look like a bowl with a handle on it, it is really interesting to look at and its amazing how stars can form themselves into a shape!

if you were able to see the night sky you woulod love it, sometimes the sky is really bright because of the moon and stars and other times its really really dark where you cant see anything!the sky is a very fasinating sight, i wish that you were able to here the sky so you could picture it in your mind!

when ever the was something going on like with space and i didnt have a telescope then but now my grandma has one i go over ther all the time and we look at all the different stuuf i think it is realy cool

I don't really look up into the sky too much. Unless Im out in the country where there aren't many lights. Then I do cause I can see more stars! That and because everytime I look up into the sky I get this weird feeling. Its hard to explain. We used to have a telescope, but somebody broke it. When I did use it I saw a FedEx plane. And then the blank night sky.
i have never tried to find anything besides the moon because i have never really been that interested in the sky. ihave never used a telescope before but i want to now that we are learing about it.

i think i've been told about this before but i forget the details. the last time i've used a telescope was when i saw a youtube video about mars and if you could spot it with a telescope. i never could find it.

Me and my dad and others do look at into the sky at night but sometimes i only look into the sky by myself or with my little niece or nephew it is a very funn thing because they love to sit outside with me and look into the sky with the telescope's (: its a very fun thing to do sometimes when im in the mood of doing it

You saw a lunar eclispe! Isn't that when the moon is in line of the sun so it looks like there is a black sun in the sky. You are lucky if you saw that.

Having a telescope is a very fun thing to have because it doesnt matter what time of the day it is u can just either walk outside or look through the telescope through your window..(: try to gett one i have 3 and they are alot of fun to have with you(:

I Have Tryed To Find Different Planets In The Night Sky. I Have Also Looked For Consellations In The Sky, But I Never Seem To Find Them... I Have A Telescope And Its Really Cool All Off Those Stars In The Sky Are Amazing!!

You just reminded me of when I saw a few shooting stars last year. It was cool! We still look for them in the night sky when we are waiting for the bus. They're just so cool. Its like a streak of light for 0.5-1 second! Its small but awesome!

I have used a telescope and I looked at some stars the moon the big dipper and the north star it was really cool. At night I look at the moon and try to find the big dipper.
i think the night sky will be fun to learn
My dad and I tried to find some constellations and planets when we were outside this summer. We also watched the sky a few weeks ago when the space station passed overhead. I have never used a telescope but have used binoculars to look at the moon.

i have tried to find stuff out about the constellations and o ryans belt is always right above my housr when i go to the bus. ive also never used a telescope before.

I've always wanted a telescope. When I was younger I used to be so interested in things like constellations. When I would go to the library I would always get at least one book on the stars. My sister used to look for the Big Dipper with me and I liked finding Orion's belt. I don't think I've ever looked for a planet though!
