The rock cycle works by natural means and resources like water and lava. It takes heat and pressure to form metamorphic rock. It takes compaction, cemention,and erosion to form sedimentary. It takes heating and cooling to form igneous. I thoughtit was kind of cool to see it animated.

Moehring,DeeAnna said...

@courtney mauricio
the cycle starts over after all of those steps are done (:

@ Deanna wow your post and Courtney's post are a lot more detailed than mine! :)

I think thats cool. i wish they had a message that the animation had ended though. i kept replaying it. i think that its a loooong process, and must get boring for the rocks. anyway, i think the cementation was interesting b/c it was connecting to our earthyquake unit.

@ courtney.
dont forget that thats also the igneous cycle. the magma erupts and cools

Rock Cycle:

Crystallazation of magma to form igneous.
Erosion of solid rock producing sediment.
Transportation of sediment.
Depostition of sediments.
Compaction and cementation of sediments.
Metamorphism.
Melting of metamorphic rock.
Then the cycle restarts.

This is how it works,
lava flows out of volcanoe,erosion of solid rock producing sediments,transpotation of sediments, deposition of sediments,compaction and cemention of sediments,metaphorphism happens,melting of metaphoric rock

the rock cycle works by natrual resorces and other stuff, the interactuve rock cycle animation really gave detail in how metamorphic rock and other resorces form. i didnt think it took that many steps just to form.

Rembold,Abby said...

@ deeanna
dont all cycles restart after they are done?

first a volcanoe erupts, Then lava flows out which becomes solid and gets washed down to the river by rain which becomes sediments. Next the sediments move downwards towards the volcanoe and becomes metamorphic rock (:

The whole animation was fun to watch. The rock cycle has a lot of steps, but first is the crystalization of magma. Then comes the erosion of rocks which make sediments, then water transports them to other locations, tehn eventually deposits them. Then they become compact, cement sediments. Metamorphism occurs next. This process melts metamorphic rocks. Then the whole process starts over:)

-It starts in a magma chamber
-then cools and makes an igneous rock
-then erioson & sediments hapopen
-Then pressure and cementation
-sedimentry tock layers
-Then heat and pressure make a matamorphic rock
then it starts all over.

Lamping Ally said...

@ DeeAnna MoeHring C:
That is weird how that cycle starts all over again. This is all because of rocks! haha

Peters,Jennifer said...

@Bonnie
You added the detailed things, like the things that they need to do the process. Such as lava and water, those are big parts of the rock cycle that I didn't include:)
I also thought the animation was cool!:)

The rock cycle works from Crystalization (OF MAGMA) for igneouse. It takes erosion of solid rock making sediments, transport sediments and depostis sediments, compact and cement the sediments for forming sedimentry rocks. Metamorphism,melt,metamorphic rock, for metamorphic rocks.

AND THE ROCK CYCLE STARTS OVER AGAIN!!!!

@courtney What is crystalization really anyway?

@ Bonnie:
I agree, I thought the animation was really cool.

Mauricio,Courtney said...

@ Anna S
Well crystalization is, by a definition:
the process of formation of solid crystals precipitating from a solution, melt or more rarely deposited directly from a gas

Mauricio,Courtney said...

@Luke
Oh yeah thats right i forgot to mention that! Thanks!

Taylor's blog spot said...

man alot of yours are very informational i wish mine was but i dont fell like writing it again

the rock cycle works because it is just a rock that chages into diffrent rock over the years.

It takes many diffrent stuff to change a rock into diffrent rocks like erosion,weathering,mealting, and heating and pressure.

I tink that the rock cycle is cool because we can whach the rocks being formed

@samantha I agree with you because i know that rocks do that

the rock cycle works by lava flowing out of a volcano and crystallizes. then the rockerodes by rain. The eroded rock then gets transported by rivers. Next the sediments get deposited into the ocean with the gravel-sized sediments accumulation near the shore, the sand grains setteling out where streemflow becomes too slow to carry them and, the clay-sized particles settle farthest from shore in calm water. After that the sediments get compacted wich become igneus rocks. Then the rocks are exposed to high temperatures and pressure, to turn them into metamorphic rocks get melted back into magma.

Alana Gulley said...

Here are the steps of the rock cycle:
1. Lava flows out of the volcanoe, and the crystallization of magma to form the igneous rock.
2. Erosion of rock producing sediment.
3. Transportation of sediments.
4. Depostion of sedimensts.
5. Compaction and cementation of sediments
6. Metamorphism
7. Melting of metamorphic rock.

The rock cycle has alot of steps. The first step is the crystalization of magma.
The next step after that is erosion of rocks which make sediments, then water and wind will transport the sediments to other locations, then eventually deposits them.
After that they become compact, cement sediments. Metamorphism occurs after they are compacted. This process melts metamorphic rocks. Then the whole process starts over.

I think it was very cool to watch the animation too.

Crystillaztion--> igneous
Sediment is formed..
Depostion of the sedimeants is followed.
compacted & cemetion of sediments
(metaphorsim)!!
melting TOO HOT!!

Start all over again to create a new rock.

The rock-cycle doesn't work like a life cycle. It may look like that in this animation, but it isn't. The rock-cycle is more diverse, any rock can become any other rock at almost any time(Under the right conditions of course!). It takes heat, pressure, or cooling to form rocks.

Igneous-Rock or other things melt into magma, magma explodes out of volcano, lava cools, becomes igenous rock.

Sedimentary-Small sediments from other rocks erode into a river or somewhere into layers and it has enough pressure that it forms into a rock.

Metamorphic-A rock of any type is under enough pressure and heat(Not enought to become magma) that it becomes a metamorphic rock.

I personally feel that we are doing TOO MUCH on the rock-cycle, I would say we would know all this without even looking at the animation by now.

Dupont, Noah said...

@Luke
You aren't the only one that thought the animation wasn't over. I wish it just kept going in circles(over and over and over and over again) Also I feel the animation was not really needed. It was a 3 second animation that just showed rocks turning into magma(orange).

The rocks go through a cycle where the rockss start as motlen rock, then the volcano erupts and the motlen rock spills out, then the rock eventually cools down. Then the rock erodes and turns into sediments and transport to an ocean where then the rocks layer up. Then the rocks eventually melt and the cycle starts agian.

cirkovic, daniel said...

@Luke

I believe it takes a long time for rocks to for too. I must take forever because it would take a long time for layer after layer for sedimentary rocks to form.

first the step is it goes up out of magma then erosion then goes in river then is compact and then goes back and melts into magma
