I saw it and I thought it looked really cool! It is cool that the moon won't look that big or bright for another 20 years! You can tell the difference between the normal moon and the perigee one that is 14% bigger and 30% brighter.

OMG. it was huuuuuge. I thought i would need a telescope to see da craters, but all i needed was a good pair of binoculars. It seemed more than 14%. More like 90%.
dang it was big. it looked like it was 4 times bigger, but ofcourse there is some reason to make it all normal and makes sence when in reality it was closer. even though id rather it was exploding or inflating but no... it had to be realistic.

@ Jenn You might be right that is rises tides a little, but they might not consider that a natural diasaster. I think what they consider a natural diasaster is like a wildfire, tornado, hurrican,etc.

The super moon may look close but, its still 356 kilometers away this is the biggest in almost 20 years. Perigee s closer to earth than apogee. perigee moons dont cause disaster. Perigee moons look so close to you that it looks like you could just reach out and touch it.
this was probably the worst timing for it to happen because now japans waves are an inch Bigger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on a side note it was very beautiful and big

i was in alabama when i had seen the moon. we had to wake up at 3 a.m to go to the army base for my brother and at that time the moon was still very large! when we were driving the car was lit up like it was daytime. Its so amazing how something the size of the moon can enlarge by 14% and get brighter by 30%.

I saw the moon on Saturday night. It looked a bit bigger but not a whole lot. I could definitely tell a difference in brightness though. That makes sense since it was 14% bigger and 30% brighter.

I just now noticed something, it's just like the book trilogy I have constantly been referencing to. Life As We Knew It, it's so similar, moon closer to earth. Only thing is the natural disasters did NOT happen.

Yes i did see the moon on Saturday i thought it looked amazing i really havent Ever seen it that big before.

i alspo thought that it was amazing it was very beautiful i liked it alot. ive never seen it before like that its crazy how just one little, well big thing can have everybody amazed.
No i didnt see the moon saturday night. I heard it was the closest moon in 20 years. It was 30% bigger than the original moon. Thats huge!
WE SAW THE LARGE MOON BECAUSE IT WAS REALLY NICE OUTSIDE.

I wish I saw it too. It is amazing how it got to be 50,000 km closer to the Earth. I wonder if it is possible for the Earth to ever hit the moon. That would be really bad.
yeah i did see the moon saturday night it was awesome i never seen it before i think it was pretty cool for me to see at night time it lite up the whole sky just like the sun was out.

when i saw that their was a super moon outside. I looked outside at the moon and next thing you know i saw a way bigger moon than normal and it was brighter then as the night went on it got smaller.

Yes I saw it when I was driving back from my cousins birthday party. The moon was honestly amazing I saw it and it was a lot closer and brighter.
The reason we saw it through the clouds is because it was closer and brighter.

it sounds kinda nightmareish for small island dwellers, due to the waves.but i bet it wasreally cool but my friend told me i saw it with her but the funny thing is that i dont remember anything from that night. oh well its amazing how something so huge can move so close to earth. if you ask me thats when they should send the astronauts to the moon, itll be a shorter trip!.
I did see it!!! it was huge! my dad was all "hey izz look at the moon!!!" and then i was all "yeah dad... thats cool :/" its so cool how one side is 50,000 km closer than the other side!

I know I didnt think it was 14% bigger either when I saw it, but I could tell that it was 30% brighter.
I saw the moon on Saturday night. It looked a bit bigger but not a whole lot. I could definitely tell a difference in brightness though. That makes sense since it was 14% bigger and 30% brighter.

Yeah I think it's amazing that one side is about 50,000 km closer to Earth than the other. When I'm 33 and the next one comes I dont think I will remember though (:

I just now noticed something, it's just like the book trilogy I have constantly been referencing to. Life As We Knew It, it's so similar, moon closer to earth. Only thing is the natural disasters did NOT happen.
I saw the moon saturday and it was gigantic, and extra bright! I cant beleive it happens every 18 years though. because i didnt pay much atention to it... instead of wow big the moon is! why is it like that? it was more of a look how pretty the moon looks..(: i guess ill just have to wait 18 more years to see it again...

I am glad that this year the sky was pretty clear because I herd that last time we had a supper moon you couldn't realy see it because it was so cloudy.
i saw the moon on saturday i heard on the radio that it was gona be the closest to the earth it has been in 20 years i was so exited the only problem was that it was super cloudy around the super moon.

i did not know about it until i heard it on the radio on my way home from baroque violin workshop, and i told my mom but SHE DIDN'T BELIEVE ME UNTIL SHE SAW IT THAT NIGHT.

The last full Moon so big and close to Earth occurred in March of 1993.Full Moons vary in size because of the oval shape of the Moon's orbit. It is an ellipse with one side (perigee) about 50,000 km closer to Earth than the other (apogee): diagram.
